Mental health is a fundamental component of students’ overall well-being and a prerequisite for effective learning, social development, and healthy personality formation. Schools, as the most important social institutions after families, play a crucial role in the prevention, identification, and promotion of students’ mental health. School counselors, health educators, and administrative staff are key actors in creating a safe, supportive, and psychologically healthy school environment.
The aim of this narrative review is to examine national and international studies on the role of school counselors, health educators, and administrative staff in promoting students’ mental health. Relevant articles published over the past two decades were reviewed from reputable scientific databases. The findings indicate that school-based interventions, life skills education, early identification of mental health problems, psychosocial support, and collaboration between school staff and families significantly contribute to improving students’ mental health. The review highlights the need for specialized training, integrated policies, and intersectoral collaboration within schools.
